New Students

As a result of the COVID-19 situation, we’ve made several updates to our admissions process. Getting enrolled at EKU is now even simpler, and the process can be completed fully online! The Eastern Advantage offers incentives and initiatives designed to help you on your educational journey. Take advantage of the following new opportunities to get enrolled at EKU.

Waived Test Scores

Because ACT and SAT test dates were cancelled, all Class of 2020 applicants will be reviewed by GPA only - not GPA and test scores. You don’t need to worry about how test scores may affect your admission decision. Once you have completed your online application, you will not be required to upload test scores in your student portal.

Unofficial High School Transcripts

You can now submit an unofficial high school transcript to satisfy the high school transcript requirement for your admissions decision. This can easily be uploaded to your admissions portal, which you’ll be able to access after you apply.

Extended Scholarship Offers

Merit scholarships - based on high school GPA and test scores - are being awarded, and the acceptance deadline has been extended to July 1. For many families, these are uncertain financial times. You can accept your scholarships without any penalties or obligation to enroll. If eligible, you will automatically be considered for a Merit scholarship and receive notification, along with instructions for accepting the scholarship, from the Scholarship Office.

SMART Program Expansion

For those who live in a U.S. state other than Kentucky, the SMART program offers a discounted out-of-state tuition rate. With the SMART program, you can attend EKU for less than attendance at many schools in your home state. The SMART program tuition discount now amounts to more than $9,000 in savings on the out-of-state tuition rate. If eligible, the SMART tuition discount will automatically be applied to your account after acceptance to EKU.

Orientation Changes

You can rest easy knowing you’ll be able to register for classes, participate in engaging, helpful sessions, and interact with other students, as part of Orientation - all from home. The Orientation fee has now been reduced to $45. We don’t want you to worry about the anxiety or financial stress associated with traveling or attending Orientation. Once admitted to EKU, you’ll be able to register for New Student Orientation.
