Exploring Your College Options
The junior and senior years of high school are usually filled with school and social activity, as well as preparing for college – touring universities, exploring career goals, attending prospective student events and college fairs, and talking with your guidance counselor, teachers and classmates about college plans. The pandemic upended many aspects of life for high school students, including the college search process.
With all of the changes from the past year, you might be wondering where to begin with figuring out your future. At EKU, we’re here to help you through the process. While in-person college fairs and events may still be limited, many opportunities exist for exploring your college options.
The best way to get a feel for life on campus is to visit. Instead of trying to maneuver campus from Google Earth, you can see it in real life and meet students, staff and faculty through an in-person campus tour at EKU. Tours are limited to three individuals, and we’re following the most current CDC guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy visit. If you can’t wait for your visit, can’t make it to campus or just prefer to check out campus from your home, take our virtual tour now.
Virtual Admissions Services
Our virtual admissions services make it easy for you to find out more about the college process and about EKU:
Virtual Information Sessions provide an admissions overview, detailed information about EKU and live chat in a 30-minute, real-time session.
Live Chat Sessions offer an engaging and interactive look at a specific topic, such as financial aid, diversity and student life. We offer chat sessions just for parents, too.
Online Admissions Counselor Appointments can help you decipher the college search and admissions processes. Deciding on a college or university can be overwhelming – especially during the pandemic. We’re here to help you figure it all out!
Not sure what to do with your life? It’s OK – part of the college experience is learning about yourself and your interests, as well as discovering your career aspirations. EKU’s Office of Academic & Career Services will work with you to help you choose a major and figure out how to achieve your career goals.
“What are the kinds of things you might be interested in, where might you fit best in the campus community – we can help you identify all of these things, and then we’re here for you,” says Mandy Connelly, assistant director for career readiness and outreach at EKU.
Additionally, you can attend a virtual or in-person event from one of our academic colleges and learn about the programs offered and career opportunities within those fields.
You may not have been able to explore colleges in the way you imagined, but that doesn’t mean you should put off your college goals. Right now, it’s simpler and more affordable than ever to pursue your degree at EKU. With the EKU Advantage, there’s no fee for applying, test score requirements are waived for admissions and new scholarships reward you for your hard work in high school. Plus, in Fall 2021, textbooks are free for all undergraduate students, representing an estimated savings of $1,200 per year. There’s never been a better time to be an EKU Colonel.
Whether at EKU or any college or university you’re interested in attending, take the first step through one of the many options listed above.
